Medium depth ruby-garnet colored with a magenta rim, this wine
has very good clarity. Medium intensity black currant aromas and
light intensity dark roast coffee are accented by notes of
cedar, dried earth and gravel dust. In the mouth, light
intensity black currant and coffee precede notes of sweet wood.
Medium bodied, this wine has a sleek, satiny texture, good
acidity and demure, supple tannins. The finish is long, with
less defined flavors ranging between black currant and cherry,
and ends slightly astringent.

BOTTOM LINE:
Good, with appealing characteristics. Recommended.
Showing very good varietal typicity this wine becomes a little
less focused with time. Quite the antithesis to to gobby, over-oaked cabernet,
it has as much aromatic appeal as it
does food compatibility. There is a light dustiness which gives
it a pleasant, but not rustic, textural character. While you may choose to just sit and
smell it over and over, it will do very nicely with lightly
seasoned grilled red meats, pizza or a Double-Double (any
style). It is very approachable and fruit-forward now, but also
has some potential to evolve and mature a bit over then next
five to seven years.
