This is a great site to follow if you want to know about wine harvest and crush - especially if you love pinot noir and double especially if you love California pinot noit.
The site was developed by Adam Lee and Brian Loring.
Last month, before its launch, I asked Brian Loring about the purpose of the site:
“Adam and I, as well as other winemakers and growers, regularly post on various wine bulletin boards about our harvest experiences. The format of those sites, with the back and forth interaction of other board members, doesn’t lend itself to presenting how harvest unfolds in a straightforward flow.
Those discussions bounce around so much that the story would get lost. I’d done a harvest blog on the Wine Spectator site back in 2004, and since that worked so well, we decided it would be great if we could get something like that put together.
I think the idea of sharing the fun, pain, frustration, excitement, anticipation, and craziness that we all go through is inherently compelling to each of us.
We decided that in order to get a comprehensive view of harvest, we needed a lot of diversity in bloggers: Old pros and relative newbies, as many AVAs covered as possible, and (most importantly) a diversity of viewpoints and styles of making Pinot. Even though we’ve publicly clashed” with some of the other bloggers over our philosophies on making wine, we thought it important to have other viewpoints included. ”
