I was fortunate years ago to have an oldish (10+ years) Zin at Louis Martini, with Louis P. Martini. I distinctly remember him saying that full-bodied Zins tend to taste pretty similar to comparably aged Napa/Sonoma Cabernets after about 10 years. Havent' tasted any samplings side by side lately, but from my expeirence, he was right.
