2000 Vintage Wines

Vintage Summary

The 2000 year, considered a classic because of nearly ideal growing conditions, saw a large total crop of 3.2 million tons of wine grapes according to the California Department of Food and Agriculture. This was a 23% increase over the preceding year. The 2000 growing season was mild with two periods of heat followed by some intermittent rains during harvest and crush. The crop was considered uniformly ripe with an excellent balance of sugar and acids and superb extract of color and flavor.
